Hobie Alter, Laguna Beach, California – 1950: Hobie began by building a balsawood fiberglass surfboard for himself. This was the beginning of Hobie Surfboards. In 1958 Hobie began experimenting with new materials, literally inventing what is the modern day polyurethane foam surfboard. Since 1950 Hobie Surfboards has remained one of the largest manufacture of surfboards. In the late 60’s Hobie developed the Hobie Cat - introducing a whole new way to have fun sailing. In the past four decades more people have taken to the water on a Hobie Cat than any other catamaran. To this day the Hobie 16 hold’s the distinction of being the world’s best selling catamaran. Plenty of other innovations emerged from Hobie’s imagination; He started out shaping surfboards; he ended up shaping a culture. He didn’t just create toys; he created a way of life, a new way of looking at things.

With the desire to make each sport he touches better, Hobie Alter has taken a proven training technique and designed a practical and simple golf stance alignment-training tool. The is a training aid that should always be in your bag and a part of your practice routine.

Design Criteria
  • Must be big enough to give you a good line up, but inconspicuous enough not to distract you while hitting
  • Must quicky assemble for use and disassemble for easy golf bag storage
  • Must easily pin down on grass or mat with golf tees or mat stakes
  • Must simply adjust to accomodate divot pattern or change of clubs with just a tap of the club head...no bending over necessary
